Stage your Home for a Faster Sale

Real Estate Professionals all know that one thing you can do to help sell your home quickly is to “stage” your home specifically to appeal to potential buyers.

Cleaning

A thorough and deep cleaning is the only way to make sure that your home sparkles from floor to ceiling. You should work toward eliminating all unpleasant odors. It's best if you can find someone else to care for your pet until the house is sold.

Clutter

Make sure all surfaces are clean and free of unnecessary knickknacks, papers, and small appliances that are not often used. Remember that piles of children's toys, even if they never looked neater, are better off stored away so that rooms look spacious.

Depersonalizing

I can't mention this enough -- almost all personal items will detract potential buyers attention from your house and onto you. Buyers will have a hard time picturing themselves in your house with all of your family pictures on display.

Decorating

Besides the paint, think about a couple of new throw rugs or new towels hanging in the bathroom or kitchen. New window treatments , fresh flowers, green plants and the right accessories can really turn the heads of potential buyers.

Environment

Make sure that the environment is the best it can be for a showing. Open the windows or turn on the air-conditioning. Turn all the lights on in any darker rooms or those lights that accent a particularly nice feature in your home. Turn on lights in curio cabinets etc... Some say that soft relaxing music is nice during a showing. Think about the next time you are in a premier department store. I've been in some that actually hire a pianist to play while you shop!
